Canuck film and TV producer Muse Entertainment has created an American subsidiary, Muse Entertainment Enterprises USA, which will be headed by producer Joel S. Rice as prexy.
The company will have offices in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and will develop TV movies, series and reality programming for the U.S. market.
The U.S. company will also work closely with producer Richard Joel to develop reality shows.
Muse had been planning to set up shop Stateside for some time, but the timing is propitious given the Writers Guild of America strike and the fact the U.S. networks are hungrier than usual for alternate programming.
Muse Entertainment CEO Michael Prupas says he thinks some of Muse’s productions, like the dark drama series “Durham County,” might nab a U.S. sale as a result of the WGA strike.
Rice exec produced TV movies “The Note,” “Shredderman Rules” and “Recipe for a Perfect Christmas.”
Previouse Muse productions include “Human Trafficking,” “Tales From the Neverending Story” and “Ice Bound.”
