ROME — Italy’s post MIP toon fest Cartoons on the Bay is moving from Positano to Salerno, also on the Amalfi coast, for its upcoming 11th edition.
Move from the posh seaside village to the nearby seaport city is dictated by the expansion of the event dedicated to TV animation, said its organizer, pubcaster RAI. Four-day event runs April 19-22.
This year’s Cartoons will see 280 entries from 36 countries vying for Pulcinella Awards in all categories, including a new nod for best score. While toon series from Europe and Hollywood feature prominently, Latin America and Asia are also well represented. Countries participating for the first time include Iceland, and the republics of Georgia and Macedonia.
