After five seasons on RTL 2, “24” is switching broadcasters and heading to rival ProSiebenSat1.
The spy actioner will begin airing on the group’s main channel ProSieben, which mainly airs U.S. fare, next year.
The Fox series has become a major DVD hit in Germany but RTL 2 has had a tough time scheduling the skein due to its real-time serialized format.
Since 2003, RTL 2 has experimented with various timeslots, airing “24” in one- to two-month periods by scheduling double or triple back-to-back episodes several times a week but it has never managed to achieve stellar ratings on the channel.
Procedurals remain much more palatable to Teutonic tastes.
