The skinny: AMC was one of a handful of double-digit gainers, and in a big way. Cabler rose 34% year to date in 25-54 demo and 27% in 18-49, with homegrown “Sunday Morning Shootout” — hosted by Variety Editor-in-Chief Peter Bart and Hollywood producer Peter Guber — leading the way. “Mad Men,” about advertising execs in the 1960s, is the cabler’s first original dramatic series. Net is still in afterglow mode from awards-friendly telepic “Broken Trail,” the most watched cable movie of 2006. Star Thomas Haden Church and director Walter Hill are working on future Western-themed projects.
