Hong Kong and Amsterdam-based indie sales agent Fortissimo demonstrated its growing status on the world stage with a bash that was bursting with talent.
There was Wong Kar Wai, former Cannes jury prexy and helmer of “My Blueberry Nights,” who is a friend of the Fortissimo family, in trademark dark glasses. Former Bond girl Michelle Yeoh dazzled in purple. And helmer of half of the “Grindhouse” double feature Roberto Rodriguez and his star Rose McGowan made an eye-catching couple, her in a babydoll dress and him in a dashing black hat. A silver-clad Tilda Swinton dipped in at the end.
Hosted by Fortissimo honchos Wouter Barendrecht and Michael J. Werner, event also served up Jim Jarmusch, Chang Chen, cinematographer Chris Doyle, Thai helmers Nonzee Nimibutr, Pen-ek Ratanaruang and Ekachai Uekrongtham.
Party even had the honor, if that’s the right word, to be crashed by Gerard Depardieu and his six-man entourage. He sat at the end of the pier and did interviews.
