NBC buys network for Sci Fi launch

Terms of the deal were not disclosed

NBC Universal will acquire Japanese cabler Jupiter Telecommunications’ subsidiary JSBC2 and launch Sci Fi Channel on its J:COM networks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

JSBC2, which holds the broadcasting license for Reality TV on the SkyPerfecTV platform, will preem a localized Sci Fi net in spring. NBC U recently expanded its portfolio of international channels by acquiring Sparrowhawk Media and plans to bow channels in more overseas markets.
