MTV Networks Intl. has upped Amit Jain to exec VP-managing director, MTV Networks India, China and Southeast Asia.
Jain will relocate to Singapore from Mumbai, where he has been leading the India operations as exec VP-managing director, MTV Networks India.
MTV international networks’ India, China and Southeast Asia operations will be grouped together, reflecting the company’s structure in Europe.
Jain was instrumental in recently establishing Viacom-18, the joint venture of MTV parent Viacom and Indian group TV18. Venture is readying the launch of a Hindi general entertainment channel in India and will reach into Indian film production and marketing.
Jain will continue to report to Bob Bakish, prexy of MTV Networks Intl., and sit on the board of Viacom-18.
In a separate development, the company upped Ian Stewart to senior VP, Viacom Brand Solutions Intl. His new role will encompass all sales and research responsibilities for Asia; Stewart spearheaded research efforts for the MTV Networks.
