'Pitbull's La Esquina' debuts May 9
NBC U’S bilingual youth network mun2 has partnered with hit Latino rapper Pitbull for skein, “Pitbull’s La Esquina” (Pitbull’s Corner). Original skein, which will debut at 10 p.m. May 9 on mun2, combines episodic street sitcom with variety-style entertainment. Production has kicked off in Miami.
Shot on location in his neighborhood of Little Havana, Pitbull and his sidekick, the Fademaster, will banter with their celebrity buddies while hanging out on legendary Miami corner La Esquina.
Skein consists of eight half-hour episodes, with each show centered around a sketch acted out by Pitbull and friends about the issue of the day and further developed with a slew of celebrity guests who offer their own commentary on the issues at hand.
Guest appearances include Akon, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Toby Love, Christina Milian, Jim Jones, Alexis y Fido, Chingo Bling, Bun-B, White Boy, Cool and Dre and Adassa.
Pitbull’s debut album “M.I.A.M.I.: Money Is a Major Issue” exceeded gold status with more than 600,000 copies sold in the United States. It became the biggest-selling bilingual hip-hop debut since Cypress Hill’s 1991 self-titled debut, and put him in the rare category of Latino rappers who have achieved major success on English-language radio.
