LONDON — EMI Group’s new owner, Terra Firma, has appointed former BBC director general John Birt to its supervisory board to oversee the affairs of the music company.
Birt joined Terra Firma as an adviser in 2005. He was U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair’s strategy adviser from 2000-05. He also has worked for independent broadcaster ITV and for corporate adviser McKinsey’s global media and entertainment practice, advising companies on strategic change.
Terra Firma said it plans to use Birt to lead a review of the way in which EMI’s artists are served to ensure that the company’s resources and expertise are focused on meeting their needs.
