E! is headed to the Dogg house.
Cabler has greenlit production on a half-hour reality skein focusing on hip-hop superstar Calvin Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dogg. Untitled project will focus on Snoop’s business and family lives as he balances stardom and a music career with attempts to raise three kids and manage the youth football league he founded.
“The juggling act that Snoop faces day in, day out, between career and family is certain to resonate with our viewers,” Comcast Entertainment Group prexy-CEO Ted Harbert said.
Skein, which is expected to premiere toward the end of the year, will include appearances by Snoop’s daughter and two sons, his wife Shante and a number of family pets.
In a way, the only thing surprising about the Snoop reality skein is that it took so long to get greenlit. The hip-hop star is already a multimedia mogul, with a weekly radio show on XM radio, an indie film label (Snoopadelic Films), clothing and pet product lines and numerous commercial endorsements.
Project is E!’s latest celeb-focused reality effort. In addition to Paris Hilton starrer “The Simple Life,” E! has devoted reality skeins to pop stars Aaron and Nick Carter, Anna Nicole Smith and Blighty tabloid regulars Katie Price and Peter Andre.
