Summer festival to be held in Los Angeles
NATPE is spearheading the first LATV Festival to run concurrently this summer with the nonprofit’s TV Producers Boot Camp, now in its fifth year. The fest component was unveiled earlier this week by NATPE prexy-chief exec Rick Feldman. The TV fest will be fashioned as a citywide event showcasing the work of the town’s multiplatform television producers. The fest will run July 25-27 at various locations in Los Angeles, including the House of Blues in West Hollywood and the Highlands Hollywood at the Hollywood and Highland complex. “We believe it’s time that Los Angeles gets the exposure it deserves as the TV production capital of the world. We believe our expertise, relationships within the industry and commitment to the growth of our industry make us the best partner for Los Angeles in the development and launch of the LATV Festival,” Feldman said. Fest will open Wednesday, July 25 with the first of three “Deconstructing a Hit” breakfast series, produced in association with the Producers Guild of America and featuring producers of three skeins. Each evening the festival will offer special screenings along with chat sessions featuring cast and crew. Also on opening day, LATV Festival Digital Day will showcase the latest portals, channels, platforms and Internet celebrities. NATPE’s TV Producers’ Boot Camp, to be held July 26-27, will offer attendees direct access to panels, keynote speakers and hands-on clinics providing information on the development and production process. Camp culminates with the Pitch Pit, an opportunity for face-to-face meetings with development execs from broadcast and cable networks, talent agencies, digital and mobile channels and production and distribution companies. Supporting sponsors include the Producers Guild of America, the House of Blues, TV Guide, NetTV and PaidContent.org.
