A fresh crop of Don Imus

Radio host hopes for traction with tractor set

Don Imus is going back to the heartland — literally.

Following his ouster from CBS Radio and MSNBC, the host hopes to find some traction with the tractor set. His return to radio via Citadel Broadcasting will be simulcast on RFD-TV, a channel best known for such fare as “The Cattle Show” and “National Tractor Pulling.”

The channel, whose initials stand for “rural free delivery” and conjure images of the quaint folk of the old “Mayberry RFD” TV show, reaches some 30 million households, and founder Patrick Gottsch hopes to parlay the jock’s notoriety into wider carriage to bridge the gap between city and country auds.
