At Off Broadway’s Zipper Theater, one musical revue of a single composer’s work is making way for another.
Zipper’s new tenant will be “Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn,” beginning previews April 6. Tuner, which showcases the songs of Finn (“Falsettos,” “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”), preemed in August 2006 at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Conn.
Production has a cast of four, plus a musician on the piano. Original company will reprise their roles for the open-ended Gotham run.
Another small-cast revue, the revival of “Jacque Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris,” closes at the Zipper Sunday.
Directed by Rob Ruggiero, “Make Me a Song” is produced by Junkyard Prods. and Larry Hirschhorn (“Butley,” “Flight”). Show opens April 19.
