Richard Easton goes to ‘Jerusalem’

Actor will play Mortiera in Ives' new play

Tony-winning “Invention of Love” and “The Coast of Utopia” thesp Richard Easton has struck out for David Ives’ “New Jerusalem.” Easton will play the role of Mortiera in Ives’ new play, a chronicle of enlightenment philosopher Baruch de Spinoza’s banishment from the Portuguese Jewish community.

“Defiance” thesp Jeremy Strong will play Spinoza alongside Broadway’s David Garrison and Yiddish theater vet Fyvush Finkel.

“Chicago” helmer Walter Bobbie — another Tony winner — will direct the play at Classic Stage Company, where it will begin performances Dec. 28 with a Jan. 13 opening.
