Aussie's 'The Hatpin' to star Caroline O'Connor

SYDNEY — Caroline O’Connor will topline new Aussie musical period drama “The Hatpin,” from a troika of mainstage tyros, scribe James Millar, helmer Kim Hardwick and composer Peter Rutherford.

Produced by Neil Gooding, White Box and the Seymour Center in association with Peter Cousens’ Kookaburra Theater Co. “Hatpin” is pegged for a limited run at the Seymour Center from Feb. 23.

O’Connor is a stage and screen veteran whose last big role in Oz was an acclaimed portrayal of Judy Garland in the Ensemble Theatre Production “End of the Rainbow”.

“The Hatpin” is based on a story of a desperate single mom who advertised her baby in a newspaper trading column in 1800s.

Joining O’Connor is Kookaburra topper Cousens, Melle Stewart and Barry Crocker.
