Theater vet named managing director

Having started out in the Seattle legit biz working the box office 27 years ago at ACT Theater, Kevin Hughes has now been named its managing director.

Originally from Philadelphia, Hughes has also worked for several Seattle nonprofits, including Empty Space Theater, Washington State Arts Alliance and Pacific Science Center. He succeeds Jolanne Stanton at ACT.

Despite carrying more than $600,000 in accumulated debt, ACT is currently on an artistic roll under the leadership of Kurt Beattie.
