Hal Holbrook has temporarily ankled the Hartford Stage production of “Our Town” due to exhaustion.
Docs ordered the 82-year-old thesp to take a breather Friday and skip this week’s perfs to recover. Understudy Robert Hannon Davis fills in during the absence.
Holbrook is expected to return to role Sept. 25 for the rest of the run, which ends Oct. 6. Perfs began Aug. 30.
Holbrook was winded by the demands of the massive part of the Stage Manager in “Our Town,” coupled with the thesp’s hectic professional schedule. (Holbrook flew to the Toronto Film Fest on his day off to drumbeat for Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild,” in which the actor is featured.)
