Harris makes directing debut

Actor to helm 'Grock'

Neil Patrick Harris makes his legit directing debut in a one-night-only private performance of Amanda Rogers’ play “I am Grock.”

Comedy, about a therapist-author who must solve her entire family’s emotional issues an hour before an interview on national television, will play the El Portal Theater in L.A. July 17. Film helmer and producer Peter Segal (“The Longest Yard,” “Anger Management”) produces.

Casting for “Grock” has not yet been set.

Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) has never directed theater before, but has appeared as an actor on Broadway in shows including “Assassins” and “Proof.”
