‘Happy Days’ eyes commercial tour

Greenberg directs musical for Connecticut run

“Happy Days: The Musical” is looking at a tour following a summer workshop production at Goodspeed Musical’s Norma Terris Theater in Chester, Conn.

The musical, based on the ’50s-set TV series, was presented last year in Los Angeles in a production helmed by Garry Marshall, who also wrote the stage script. For the revised production, Gordon Greenberg (Goodspeed’s “The Pirates of Penzance”) takes over at the helm. Show’s score is by Paul Williams, with John McDaniel as music supervisor. Michelle Lynch is choreographer.

The Goodspeed production, running Aug. 9-Sept. 2, is receiving enhancement money with an eye to begin a commercial tour in 2008.
