Off Off Broadway tuner “Gauguin/Savage Light” is back for another go-round, with a fourth engagement of the small-scale musical set to begin later this month.
Show is the handiwork of George Fischoff, who wrote the book, music and lyrics (as well as 1960s pop hits “98.6” and “Lazy Day”). Fischoff also has produced the show in all its incarnations.
Production originated in a four-week stint at Theater Row in spring 2006, followed by an eight-week engagement at the Abingdon later that year. It then played for a month this summer at the Roy Arias Theaters, where the show will again take up residence this fall.
Three-thesp tuner follows the life of the artist Paul Gauguin, touching on his relationship with fellow painter Vincent Van Gogh. Dominic Scaglione, Jr., Kaylin Lee Clinton and Adam Wright star. (Cast also is credited with the direction and choreography of the show.)
“Gauguin” kicks off Sept. 26 for a run initially set for a month, although it could turn open-ended if biz warrants.
