Finley’s ‘Wake Up!’ set for Oct. 7

Evening combines Bush, Schiavo pieces

Controversial performance artist Karen Finley brings two prominent American women to the stage in the New York premiere of “Wake Up!” which plays a limited engagement Oct. 7-Nov. 18 at the Lafayette Street Theater.

The evening of two thematically related companion pieces combines “The Dreams of Laura Bush,” in which the First Lady’s subconscious state is explored to reflect on the politics of feminine passive power; and “The Passion of Terry Schiavo,” looking at the cultural obsession with one woman’s right to die.
