Producers Moya Doherty and John McColgan are continuing to put their TV background to good use in marketing their Broadway tuner, “The Pirate Queen.”
A TV doc about the show, “The Pirate Queen: A New Musical — A Broadway Journey,” will air March 12 on Gotham public television station WLIW21, about a week after the tuner begins New York previews March 6.
Behind-the-scenes chronicle will use different footage than what is shown on the “castcom,” the stage production’s extensive online component following “Queen’s” backstage ups and downs. Crew for “Journey,” produced by Doherty and McColgan’s Tyrone Prods., began shooting footage in Dublin in April 2005.
Tyrone made an earlier PBS doc about “Riverdance,” the global Irish dance phenom produced by Doherty and McColgan.
“Queen” opens April 5 on Broadway.
