Fulton's 'Giants' follows Beverly Hills High team

The second annual L.A.-based Independent TV Festival was set to kick off Friday night with a screening of the documentary “When Giants Collide.”

Doc, from actress/designer Christina Fulton, follows the saga of Beverly Hills High’s underfunded wrestling program. “Giants” features Fulton’s son, Weston Coppola-Cage, who’s a member of the team. Fulton created, shot and directed the doc.

Held July 27 to 29, the ITVF is sponsored again this year by Comcast. The communications behemoth is also funding the fest’s competish; winners in four categories (drama, comedy, alternative and documentary) will win $10,000.

ITVF joined with NATPE on Tuesday to throw a joint opening night gala; NATPE’s own LATV festival was held earlier this week.

A.J. Tesler founded the ITVF and serves as its directors. According to the org, several contributors to last year’s fest attracted notice from broadcast and cable nets, as well as several producers.
