Anthony Hopkins, with co-star Christian Slater in tow, will unspool “Slipstream,” which he wrote and directed … Taiwan’s vet New Waver, Hou Hsiao Hsien, receives a career Leopard of Honor and a Piazza screening of his latest pic, “Flight of the Red Balloon,” starring Juliette Binoche … Magyar maestro Istvan Szabo returns for a reprise of his debut feature “The Age of Illusions,” launched at Locarno in 1965 … Gallic helmer-gourmand Claude Chabrol jets in to celebrate his first pic, “Le beau Serge,” a Locarno discovery in 1958 … French filmmaker Catherine Breillat, arrives with her 1988 Locarno debut “38 Fillette” … Brit Mike Leigh will accompany his 1971 Locarno bow “Bleak Moments” … Swiss vet Alain Tanner attends for an unspooling of “Charles, Alive or Dead,” a 1969 fest pic … while Italy’s Marco Bellocchio, a Locarno discovery in 1965 with his classic “Fists in the Pocket,” also returns to the lake town.
