WB, MSN work on Potter project

Public can win part in film

LONDON — Warner Bros. and Microsoft unveiled Thursday an online partnership that will allow members of the public the chance to win themselves a walk-on part in the next Harry Potter pic.

Deal was inked between Warner Home Video and Microsoft Digital Advertising solutions.

Competish goes live Nov. 23 exclusively on MSN U.K.

Fans will be asked to answer a series of multiple choice questions each week about “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” on the MSN portal through Dec. 20. The winner will receive a part in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

Competish will also be supported by dedicated editorial content.

“We’re thrilled to have done our biggest ever online partnership around our biggest property ‘Harry Potter,’ ” said Warner Bros. U.K. president and m.d. Josh Berger. “Online is attracting ever increasing amounts of spend, although it is difficult to predict if and when new media will overtake traditional media. There are, though, things we can do online that are difficult to do in traditional media.”
