Universal Pictures has found a new distribution partner in Japan.
New deal, which becomes effective this summer, calls for Toho-Towa to distribute U pics in that territory. The studio will exit UIP Japan later in the year.
Toho-Towa, a subsidiary of Toho, is Japan’s largest film producer and exhibitor.
Universal Pictures Intl. prexy David Kosse enthused about the studio’s new partner, noting that Toho-Towa “will be invested in the success of our slate of films in Japan.”
