UCLA Showcase honors five writers

'Sunday' scribe Pyne earns achievement award

UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television has announced the five winners of its annual Screenwriters Showcase: Maureen Johnson for “The Boy From Settignano,” Andrea McCloud for “Room for Error,” Lori Palm for “Pumpkins Make Flowers,” Ben Sztajnkrycer for “Witch Hunter” and David Whelan for “Remember Two Things.”

Selections from the winning works will be read at the Showcase June 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Writers Guild theater. Also at the Showcase, UCLA alum Daniel Pyne, scribe of “Any Given Sunday,” will receive the distinguished achievement award, presented by screenwriter and alum Mike Werb.
