Turner’s turn as film fest president

Flanders festival to take place in October

Kathleen Turner has been tapped to serve as jury president of the 34th annual Flanders International Film Festival in Ghent, Belgium, in October.

Turner was a Cannes juror in 2004; previous Flanders jury prexies include Jeanne Moreau, Mike Figgis, Robert Wise, and Fay Kanin.

The fest will play host to the 7th World Soundtrack Awards with live concerts by Oscar-winner Gustavo Santaolalla (“Brokeback Mountain,” “Babel”), Alberto Iglesias (“The Constant Gardener”) and Mychael Danna. This year 200 films, shorts and documentaries will screen in and out of competition. There will also be a special tribute to the cinema of Argentina.
