The Public Relations Society of America has tapped the PR team for “An Inconvenient Truth” as the recipient of its public relations professional of the year award.
Nod, presented Thursday evening in Gotham at the org’s Silver Anvils ceremonies, went to Megan Colligan, Par Vantage exec VP of publicity and promotions; Buffy Shutt, Participant Prods. exec VP for marketing; and Glover Park Group founding partner Michael Feldman. The presentation featured a video clip from former VP Al Gore.
“The public relations campaign created and implemented by this team helped to ignite a worldwide conversation about climate change, and the cultural and social impact has been undeniable,” Gore said.
The PRSA noted that the public relations campaign included eco-friendly events at the Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. premieres with such elements as invitations printed on recycled paper with soy ink, all-natural cuisine, energy-efficient lighting and reusable service items. The PRSA also cited the public-relations team for work with environmental orgs to show the documentary at smaller venues.
“Truth” grossed $24 million domestically and $25 million internationally and won the documentary Oscar this year.
