Indie distributor picks up Slamdance entry

ThinkFilm has bought worldwide rights to Slamdance Film Festival feature entry “You Are Here,” a comedic romp set against the backdrop of the L.A. nightclub scene.

Think paid around $2 million for worldwide rights to the film, written and helmed by Henry Pincus in his feature directorial debut. Producers include veteran Paul Schiff (“Maid in Manhattan,” “Epic Movie”).

Story follows a group of twentysomething friends who try to piece together what happened to them over the course of a single night. Ensemble cast includes Bijou Phillips, Lauren German, Katie Cassidy and Patrick Fleuger.

Also producing were Paul Schiff Prods.’ Tai Duncan as well as Stone Douglass and Mickey Barold of Stick n’ Stone Prods., which financed the pic.

Think will distribute “You Are Here” domestically, while Capitol Films will handle foreign sales.

Endeavor Independent’s Graham Taylor and Mark Ankner handled the sale of the film. Also negotiating the deal was attorney Irwin Rappaport.

Pact marks Endeavor Independent’s second Slamdance sale after docu “The King of Kong,” to which New Line and sister division Picturehouse picked up rights.

Slamdance runs concurrently with Sundance in Park City, Utah.

Slamdance also announced its prizes. Winners included Dylan Verrechia’s tale of cockfighting and prostitutes, “Tijuana Makes Me Happy,” which took the grand jury prize for narrative feature; Gaza docu “Unsettled,” which won the grand jury prize for docu feature; Jeremy Saulnier’s “Murder Party,” winner of the aud award for narrative feature; and transgendered-twin doc “Red Without Blue,” which took the audience award for documentary feature.
