Tennis legend set for Tribeca/ESPN fest

King will serve as ambassador for event

The Tribeca Film Festival and ESPN have announced that Billie Jean King will serve as ambassador for fest-within-a-fest the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival.

King, who joins previously announced ambassador Tiki Barber, will make select appearances throughout the fest to support emerging filmmakers.

Barry Levinson will also be making an appearance at the fest. Helmer will present a director’s cut of his 1987 pic “The Natural.” A Q&A with Levinson and ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap will follow screening.

Additionally Chevy Chase, Steve Bornstein, former ESPN prexy and CEO and HBO Sports topper Ross Greenburg have been added the fest’s advisory board.

Woody Harrelson poker mockumentary “The Grand” will kick off the specialty fest April 27.

The sixth annual Tribeca Film Festival will take place April 25-May 6.
