'Hunters' renewed, may head for bigscreen

BERLIN — Teutonic tyke web Super RTL is joining Munich-based Your Family Entertainment (YFE) and French animation producer Futurikon to co-produce a second season of the smash adventure toon series “Dragon Hunters.”

The skein follows the adventures of powerful sword-wielder Lian Chu and his cowardly partner Gwizdo as they set out to rid their magical world of evil dragons.

A bigscreen adaptation of “Dragon Hunters” is in the works, produced by French animation company McGuff and Trixter in Munich.

YFE will hold pay TV rights for German-speaking territories and free-TV rights for Austria and Switzerland.

Company also will oversee all sales and distribution activities in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, with YFE also owning the entire rights package for these countries, including free TV, pay TV, DVD and merchandising.
