Sun Daolin dies at 86

Chinese actor, director was 'Architect' of 'Zhan'

Veteran Chinese multihyphenate Sun Daolin has died at the age of 86 in a Shanghai hospital. The thesp, warbler and helmer was born in Beijing in December 1921 and began his career as a stage and film actor in the 1940s, appearing in 100 movies and plays. He also did Chinese voiceovers for a dozen foreign films, including Hamlet. He retired from acting just two years ago and among his credits as a helmer are “Architect Zhan Tianyou.”
