Hopkins' directorial debut premiered at Sundance

Strand Releasing has acquired Anthony Hopkins’ directorial debut, “Slipstream,” which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, for theatrical release.

Strand will open the surreal psychological thriller on Oct. 26.

Strand president Marcus Hu is partnering with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group’s Peter Schlessel, who has acquired domestic homevid rights for the film. Hopkins recently won a special directing and acting prize for “Slipstream” at the Locarno Film Festival.

Pic stars Hopkins, Stella Arroyave, Michael Clarke Duncan, Fionnula Flanagan, Christian Slater, Jeffrey Tambor and John Turturro. Arroyave and Robert Katz are the producers.
