Spain’s Sogepaq has closed first international pre-sales on “Caotica Ana” (Chaotic Ana), the latest film from Julio Medem (“Sex and Lucia”), one of Spain’s highest-profile auteurs.Prokino has taken all rights to Germany and Austria, while Tartan Films will handle the U.K. and Ireland. Cineart has closed Belgium, A-Film the Netherlands and Prooptiki Greece. A sophisticated coming-of-age drama, which Medem dubs a “feminist fable,” “Ana” centers on an 18-year-old girl who discovers she has lived previous lives as women who all suffered an early and violent death. She makes a geographic and psychological journey to try to avoid the same fate. Largely Spanish-language, it also contains dialogue in English, Arabic, Native American and French. Newcomer Manuela Velles plays Ana; film also features Charlotte Rampling in her first Spanish-language role, Spanish singer-songwriter Bebe and Nicolas Cazale.
