Exec will receive Humanitarian Award

Shari Redstone, prexy of Redstone family-owned theater chain National Amusements, has been tapped to receive the 2007 Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at the upcoming ShowEast exhibitor confab in recognition of her philanthropic work.

Redstone is a board member of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia U. and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. She also is on the board of trustees at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

National Amusements undertakes myriad charitable and awareness-raising efforts, including the SPF-Sun Protection Flicks program in support of teaching kids the importance of using sunscreen; literacy program Bookworm Wednesdays; and Kidtoons Films, which features G-rated movies every Saturday and Sunday morning. There’s also Silver Screen Classics for senior citizens.

ShowEast runs Oct. 15-18 in Orlando, Fla. Redstone will be honored at the closing-night banquet Oct. 18.
