‘Shark Family’ pilot to air on Discovery

Mip Brief

CANNES — Sharks are navigating their way back to Discovery. Canada’s Exploration Production is readying “Shark Family,” a one-hour high-def pilot about a family whose life work is studying the fearsome creatures.

A co-production between EPI and Monaco Film (Hamburg) and commissioned by Discovery Canada and Discovery U.S., the “Shark Family” special is scheduled to premiere in a North American simulcast during Discovery’s annual Shark Week programming event this summer.

The special serves as a pilot for a 13-part half-hour series slated for production in 2008. EPI has the exclusive international distribution rights to the “Shark Family” special and the 2008 series for broadcast territories outside North America.
