There’s no doubt the Academy Awards are a prestige play for sponsors and promo partners. But an Epson press release regarding its role in the kudocast shows amazing pride, even by showbiz standards.
It seems Epson’s Stylus C88+ printer and DURABrite Ultra inks are essential to Oscar.
“For the eighth year in a row, officials with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) are relying on Epson quality to meet their printing needs,” the release gushes.
Relying? Producer Laura Ziskin and the PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants must be breathing a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, Epson has all of Oscar’s badge-printing needs covered:
“Quick-drying inks were another important factor so badges could be handled immediately as they came off the printer without smudges,” the release adds. “And lastly, the Academy needed a printer with a paper path that wouldn’t bend the badge and could handle thick media to accommodate the cutting-edge technology incorporated into the identification badges.”
Now if only Epson could devote its energies to streamlining the kudocast itself.
