Jury to consist of young Germans, French people
BERLIN — German director/producer Peter Sehr (“The Anarchist’s Wife”) has been tapped to head the Dialogue en perspective jury at the upcoming Berlin Intl. Film Festival. The independent jury prize will be awarded for the fifth time to a film in the Berlinale’s Perspektive Deutsches Kino section, which showcases domestic productions. International French channel TV5Monde and the Franco-German Youth Office sponsor the Dialogue en perspective prize, which aims to promote intercultural dialogue between young German and French people and boost interest in Teutonic film among young Gauls. The Dialogue en perspective jury will consist of seven young German and French film aficionados. Sehr, who produced and directed his latest pic, the German-French-Spanish co-production “The Anarchist’s Wife” with his wife Marie Noelle, has long worked closely with both German and French collaborators. His other credits include the 1994 German Film Award winning historical drama “Kaspar Hauser” starring Andre Eisermann; the 1997 German-French production “Obsession,” starring Daniel Craig and Heike Makatsch; and 2001 Locarno winner “Love the Hard Way,” starring Adrien Brody. A lecturer at the University of Television and Film Munich, Sehr is a director of the German-French project Masterclass of Young European Film Producers and, in 2002, was one of the founders of the German-French Film Summit, which seeks to strengthen collaboration between both film industries and foster film exchange between both countries. Sehr and Noelle run the Munich-based P’Artisan Filmproduktion, which they started in 1988. Serving on the jury provides “a totally new perspective on my German-French work, that is to say, the perspective of the young audience of tomorrow, and its critical ideas on the young German film,” Sehr said. The Berlinale runs Feb. 7-17. German and French film lovers between the ages of 18 and 29 can still apply for Dialogue en perspective jury duty through Jan. 7 at http://www.berlinale.de
