SAG sets date for awards ceremony

Guild schedules Jan. 27 for kudos

The Screen Actors Guild has set Jan. 27 as the date for its 14th annual SAG Awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Nominations in five feature and eight TV categories will be announced on Dec. 20 – two weeks earlier than this year. Final ballots will be due Jan. 25.

SAG Awards committee chief Yale Summers said the nominations announcement had been moved forward to provide more time and opportunities for members to view the nominated performances before casting ballots.

Nominees will be chosen by separate film and television nominating committees, each composed of 2,100 members selected at random in the spring each year. Once selected, committee members may not serve on a nominating panel again for three years.
