Ross to host BAFTA ceremony

BBC presenter takes over from actor Stephen Fry

LONDON — Jonathan Ross will be confirmed this week as the host of this year’s British Academy Film Awards.

Ross, who presents the BBC’s main film review show and also hosts his own irreverent Friday night chat show on BBC1, replaces longtime BAFTA host Stephen Fry, who stepped down this year.

Ross previously hosted the 1998 BAFTAs. The 2006 award ceremony will take place Feb. 11 at a new venue, the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
