Robin Russell has been tapped senior executive veep of marketing and distribution for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group.
In her new post, Russell will oversee worldwide administration for the group’s theatrical films and will handle business affairs, operations and guide strategic planning for the divisions. She will report to Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for CTMPG and vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Russell rejoins the motion picture group after working for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for more than a decade. As senior executive veep of that division, Russell headed administration and business affairs as well as worldwide manufacturing and distribution of product for SPHE.
Russell joined SPE in 1993 as veep of corporate business affairs. She was then upped to executive veep of business affairs for Columbia Pictures. In 1996, Russell moved to the distribution side of the studio and was named executive veep for Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.
Before SPE, Russell was partner and chief financial officer, business affairs and administration, for InterTalent. She also worked at Disney as senior veep of business and legal affairs for Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone Pictures. She came to Disney from Paramount Pictures with the senior management team of Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
