'Home' actress honored with Aussie prize

SYDNEY — “Home and Away” thesp Kate Ritchie won the Gold Logie nod, Oz’s highest television accolade, on Sunday night.

The young thesp’s victory was the culmination of a push by Logie Award organizers to entice a younger demo to the kudocast, which has skewed older in past years.

Ritchie also won the publicly voted popular actress prize.

In the industry-voted section, the drama nod went to Foxtel’s “Love My Way” for the third year in a row. Actor gong went to Matthew Le Nevez for made-for “The Society Murders” on Ten Network and actress to Susie Porter for “RAN: Remote Area Nurse” on pubcaster SBS.

Nine Net’s kudocast was overshadowed by rumors that its morning- show host Jessica Rowe was out. Still, Nine won the night, with the ceremony attracting a 38 share — 12.4 points in front of Seven (25.6%) and 19.1 points clear of Ten (18.9%).
