Producers form new body

Organization brings productions to S. Korea

CANNES — A collection of Korean producers has launched an org designed to help foreign movies shoot in South Korea.

Body is brainchild of Lewis Kim (co-producer on mega hit “The Host”) who has roped in Lee Seong-hun (producer of “Taegukgi”) Han Jae-duk (line producer on “Oldboy”) Park Bong-soo (line producer of “The Host”) and Sohn Sae-hoon (a producer on “Typhoon”).

“Not many foreign films have shot in Korea unless there has been a Korean element to the script. That’s pretty surprising considering the facilities and skills available,” Kim said. “We aim to help with far more than location scouting and will assist pictures needing casting, line-production and post.”

Kim said org, which is housed at talent agency and production shingle Barunson, has the blessing of Korean Film Council and is working with the Seoul Film Commission.
