BUENOS AIRES — With the company expanding output at home and abroad, Argentina’s Pol-ka Prods. has tapped helmer Marcos Carnevale (“Elsa & Fred”) as director of content and new project development.
Carnevale, who is filming romantic drama “Tocar el Cielo,” co-directed and adapted the script for Pol-ka’s version of “Desperate Housewives,” which aired to strong numbers on Argentina’s second-ranked broadcaster Artear-Canal 13 last year.
Pol-ka also co-produced “Housewives” for Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador with Buena Vista Intl. Television Latin America, and it is working with Disney-ABC Intl. Television Latin America on a Spanish-language version for Univision.
Pol-ka’s manager of international business, Victor Tevah, will add production director to his roles.
Run by Adrian Suar and Fernando Blanco, Pol-ka is bringing in good numbers for telenovela “Son de Fierro,” miniseries “Mujeres Asesinas” (Women Assassins) and nursing novela “Mujeres de Nadie” (Nobody’s Women) on Artear.
Artear owns a 30% stake in Pol-ka, and Suar doubles as the network’s programming director.
