Infinity Media nabs three-year production deal

Michael Ohoven (“Capote”) and his Infinity Media shingle have signed a three-year production, development and overhead deal with First Look Studios.

Ohoven will be based at First Look offices in Century City. Under the deal, he will have the authority to decide which of his pics receive theatrical distribution from First Look.

Deal comes in the wake of First Look’s reconfiguration. Avi Lerner’s Nu Image/Millennium Films gained control of the indie banner, with Lerner and former First Look topper Henry Winterstern heading the new First Look Holdings.

Besides “Capote,” Ohoven’s been involved in 20 films in seven years, including “The Devil’s Rejects,” “Just Friends,” “The Cave,” “Pride” and the upcoming “Bug,” starring Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon. He’s in development on biopics “Hailwood” and “Winalota Cash,” as well as “Invisible” and an adaptation of “Back Roads.”

“There are very few producers in this business who have accomplished so much at such a young age,” Winterstern said. “He brings a lot to the table in the way of business savvy and creative input.”

Ohoven noted that he’ll continue to maintain agreements and relationships with other studios and distributors.

First Look’s Kevin Turen will become president of Infinity Media. Turen has been VP of development and production at the shingle for the past three years.
