Actor to play Finnish national hero
STOCKHOLM — Mikko Nousiainen has been cast as the lede in Renny Harlin’s epic “Mannerheim.”
Thesp plays Finnish military leader and president Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim. Nousiainen is best known for Finnish hit “Restless.”
Pic, which with a budget of Euros 10 million ($14.7 million), is the most expensive film ever made in Finland. It starts to lense next year and is expected to be released on Nov. 30, 2009, marking the anniversary of the so-called “Winter War” between Russia and Finland.
Heikki Vihinen wrote the script. Pic, produced by Markus Helim’s Solar Films, marks Harlin’s first Finnish-language pic. His first feature, “Born American,” was shot in Finland with an English-speaking cast.
