Nokia Theater to host AMAs

Event will be first awards show held at theater

The American Music Awards will be the first kudofest to be held at the Nokia Theater in the L.A. Live complex.

The 35th edition of the Dick Clark Prods.-owned event will be held on Nov. 18 and air on ABC.

Move from the Shrine Auditorium reps the latest attempt by L.A. Live owner AEG to bring awards shows to the theater that’s slated to open in October with concerts featuring the Eagles and Dixie Chicks.

The Recording Academy is considering moving its Grammy pre-telecast ceremony to the theater, which will hold up to 7,100 people.
