Award parties finding Hollywood hideaways

Soho House

Location: 8764 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles

The Soho House recently purchased the old Vanity Fair party stomping grounds at the famed Morton’s, and the new owners say they plan on hosting several award season events. “Over the last four years, Soho House’s Los Angeles pop-up has become a staple of Oscar season. This year for the first time, our pop-up will take place at the same prestigious and iconic location that will be our permanent West Hollywood home,” says Mark Somen, Soho House’s U.S. director of operations.

Los Angeles

Disney Hall has established itself as a new awards-party venue, recently hosting the “ET”/ People Magazine Emmy event and the Imagen Awards. Besides the aesthetically unique look of the Frank Gehry-designed building, the venue offers catering from Patina. “It’s a perfect place to host award show parties, since it is one of Los Angeles’ architectural icons, not to mention one of the most photographed buildings in the city,” says Catherine Babcock, VP of marketing and communications. “Inside, it has many wonderful spaces full of ambiance, which can give a party many different dimensions.”

Opera and Crimson

Location: 1650 N. Schrader Ave., Hollywood

Nightclub impresario David Judaken just opened two of Hollywood’s hottest nightclubs side by side. Thanks to the venue’s unique design, it can be used as one big space or two separate venues. Besides a large outdoor patio, Judaken says the club is a desirable award season spot because “we are just north of the ArcLight theaters and down the street from the Kodak, making us walking distance from the Oscars and from premieres.”

One Sunset

Location: 8730 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood

After hosting the Los Angeles Confidential mag pre-Emmy party as well as many other chic soirees, you can expect more award season bashes to be held at this hip new spot. “The sexy atmosphere, upbeat energy and open dining arrangements make it a great venue to host any award season event, large or small,” says owner Erica Cohen.

Red Seven

Location: 700 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood

Wolfgang Puck recently opened his latest digs, and has already played host to HBO’s Emmy party as well as a slew of other industry bashes. “We have a relaxed yet spacious atmosphere and take Asian cuisine to the next level,” says Carl Schuster, CEO and partner of Wolfgang Puck Catering.
