Producer inks first-look deal with studio

Jon Shestack Prods. has inked a two-year first-look deal with New Line, with “The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” the first pic to be produced under the pact.

Shestack will be responsible for bringing in comedies, thrillers and some genre fare.

“Ghosts,” to be directed by Mark Waters and star Matthew McConaughey, is set for a Christmas 2008 release.

Shestack’s shingle includes development execs Ginny Brewer and Jeremy Stein. He recently produced Touchstone’s “Dan in Real Life,” starring Steve Carell, Dane Cook and Juliette Binoche, and he is currently producing the animated feature “Escape From Planet Earth” for the Weinstein Co. as well as the horror-thriller “Open Grave,” with Nala Films financing.

Shestack previously had a three-year first-look deal with Warner Bros., where he produced “Firewall.” Prior to that, he was president of production at Artisan and exec VP at Beacon, where he produced “Air Force One.”
